BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Mizzou softball's junior starting pitcher, Marissa McCann, was selected to the 2026 SEC Community Service Team, the Southeastern Conference announced on Tuesday, May 5.

McCann leads the team in total community service hours after working with the Missouri Children's Hospital, the Special Olympics and the Columbia Public School District.

The junior from Surprise, Ariz., has made it her mission to volunteer with the programs that she wants to pursue in the professional landscape as a Human Development & Family Science: Child Life Specialist major. The majority of her community service hours come from working at the Missouri Children's Hospital. Through the hospital system, she assists certified Child Life Specialists in supporting families to promote stress-free activities, play and family education and support.

She has also worked alongside the Special Olympics, helping coordinate practices and coaching. As well as volunteering as a mentor in the Columbia Public School District.

This is McCann's second award from the SEC, as she has been named to the SEC First-Year Honor Roll, as well as being named to the Spring Academic Honor Roll in 2025.

McCann is second on the team in ERA (3.39), first in strikeouts (118) and has thrown the most innings on the staff (132.1). The junior's highlight of the season came against SIUE when she threw the program's 13th perfect game, and was one shy of a career high for strikeouts with 11.
