FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Freshman Sidney Forrester posted the go-ahead home run in the fourth inning, as Mizzou softball (25-26, 7-13 SEC) bested No. 9/6 Arkansas (39-8, 13-7 SEC) 3-1 in the series finale on Sunday, April 26 at Bogle Park.

Forrester recorded home run No. 10 on the season, as she posted the go-ahead home run in the fourth inning. Senior Cierra Harrison earned the victory after coming out of the bullpen, as she is now 10-9 on the season, after throwing 4.1 scoreless innings in relief.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Arkansas drew first blood in the bottom half of the first inning, as back-to-back doubles with one out earned it the 1-0 lead. However, the Razorbacks stranded runners on first and third as starting pitcher Marissa McCann worked her way out of the jam with a full count fly out. The junior would escape another one in the bottom half of the second, as she left runners on second and third.

McCann exited the game after pitching 2.1 innings and walking four batters, as she left runners on first and second for Harrison. The Tigers were able to get out of the inning, as senior Kayley Lenger picked up her sixth outfield assist, as she threw out a runner advancing home on a single up the middle.

Utilizing the momentum on defense, Mizzou was able to capitalize on the offensive end. Forrester recorded her home run No. 10 – first home run since March 18 – as she brought in three to give the Tigers the 3-1 lead.

Harrison controlled the rest of the game, as she finished the game with 4.2 innings pitched, allowed four runners, and struck out four to clinch the series finale 3-1.
