Tennis Concludes Competition at Husker Invitational

Mizzou tennis wrapped up competition at the Husker Invitational on Sunday, Sept. 28, in Lincoln, Nebraska. Overall, the Tigers totaled 20 wins over three days of round robin action with Nebraska, Illinois, Kansas State, Iowa State and Wichita State.
DAY ONE
The Tigers totaled nine wins in their first day back, topping competition from Nebraska, Kansas State, Illinois and Iowa State in both doubles and singles matches. The Black and Gold saw the most success in singles competition, earning six of their nine wins.
Returning sophomores Zoe Lazar and Gian Octa secured a dominant doubles win (6-0) against Kansas State. Freshman Alex Ackman and sophomore transfer Julie Bedard worked through a tight match against Nebraska to come out on top, 7-6 (4). Additionally, sophomore Korina Roso partnered with graduate transfer Michelle Kleynerman, topping Iowa State (6-1).
Six different Tigers grabbed a win during singles matches. Octa and Ackman finished in straight sets, along with freshman Jenna Kleynerman. Meanwhile, M. Kleynerman, Roso and Lazar battled through three sets to pick up wins.
DAY TWO
The Tigers added seven wins during the second day of action against opponents from Nebraska, Illinois, Wichita State, Iowa State and Kansas State, bringing their total for the weekend to 16 wins.
Both doubles wins came from the same pairing, Michelle Kleynerman and Korina Roso. In singles action, Mary Brumfield, Roso, Julie Bedard and Jenna Kleynerman all won their matches in straight sets. Zoe Lazar battled back after dropping the first set 5-7 to take the next two, 6-1, 6-4, respectively.
DAY THREE
Missouri won four of five singles matches on the final day of play at Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center. Sophomores Zoe Lazar and senior Andrea Artimedi continued their strong weekend by adding single-set wins. Additionally, sophomores Korina Roso and Gian Octa closed out a strong invitational wins in three sets.

Mizzou is back in action at the ITA Fall Regional Championship in Norman, Oklahoma, Oct. 16-20.
