
Tennis Wraps Up Day One of ITA Regional Championship

Mizzou tennis concluded the first day at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Central Regional Championship, Oct. 16.
The tournament, hosted by Oklahoma, began with Missouri sophomore Zoe Lazar, who secured the first win in a singles match against Arkansas State's Hanmare McAslin. Lazar continued to the round of 32 at noon but fell to Martaa Chogsomjav of Kansas State.
Following Lazar was teammate, sophomore Gian Octa, who tallied two wins against Uta Asakura from Tulsa and Anlin Xie from Minnesota, to advance to the round of 16. Octa is scheduled to take on Memphis' Natalia Koppova in the round of 16.
Both sophomore Julie Bedard and freshman Alex Ackman suffered losses to Tulsa's Carolina and Nebraska-Lincoln's Yuzu Miyoshi, respectively.
In the doubles column, Octa and Ackman dropped a match to Andrea Pineda and Alva Norberg of North Dakota. However, duos Michelle Kleynerman/Bedard, Mary Brumfield/Andrea Artimedi, and Lazar/Korina Roso all secured wins in the round of 64 and will continue on to the round of 32 tomorrow.

UP NEXT
Mizzou will compete tomorrow, Oct. 17, in Day Two of ITA Regionals in Norman, Oklahoma. Gian Octa is scheduled to take on Memphis' Natalia Koppova in the round of 16. Kleynerman/Bedard, Brumfield/Artimedi, and Lazar/Roso compete in doubles.
