
No. 23 Mizzou Volleyball Reigns Over Rams At Fight In The Fort

The Tigers earned their third sweep of the season against Rhode Island
Mizzou volleyball (5-2) completed its double-header sweep at the Fight in the Fort, as it roughed up the Rams (2-5) in a 3-0 victory on Thursday, Sept. 11, at Schollmaier Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.
The Tigers ended the matchup with a .345 hitting percentage, as they finished their first day at the Fight in the Fort, 2-0, after besting Wyoming and Rhode Island.
KEY PLAYERS
- Redshirt sophomore Grace O'Reilly produced a team-high 11 kills and added four digs.
- Freshman Asia Harvey tallied two service aces, five digs and seven kills.
- Junior Trinity Luckett made her first start for the Tigers, tallying eight kills and one block.
- Freshman Nina Mandovic recorded a career-high 20 assists and added seven digs to her total.
FIRST SET (25-14, Mizzou leads 1-0)
The Tigers once again tied their largest set victory this season for the second time today, as they ran with a fresh new lineup in match two.
Mizzou started hot, outscoring Rhody 10-2 before the Rams were forced to take a timeout. That didn't stop the offensive display in which the Tigers hit .357 for the set, compared to Rhode Island's .133.
Only one time did the Rams produce a scoring run of three or more, and that was late in the set, when everything was decided.
SECOND SET (25-17, Mizzou leads 2-0)
Mizzou had a little closer call in the second set, as Rhode Island was able to keep it close with a tie set at 14 all. However, from there the Tigers outscored Rhody 11-3 to ensure a win in the second set of game two.
Set two was Mizzou's best hitting performance, as they recorded a .480 hitting percentage with only three errors.
THIRD SET (25-20, Mizzou wins 3-0)
The third set was closer than any of the others, as the Rams held the lead as late as when the score read 11-10 in their favor. Mizzou would eventually fully own the lead at 13-12 and would hold from there.
The turning point of the set came after O'Reilly's kill, which gave the Tigers the lead. They then secured two more points with kills from Harvey and Luckett. Mizzou would finalize the win on a kill from freshman Paige Felder.
GAME NOTES
- Mizzou now leads the all-time series 1-0.
- The Tigers have now swept three opponents this season.
- Head coach Dawn Sullivan is 45-24 with the Tigers and has a road record of 16-13. Sullivan is 154-62 overall.

- The Tigers will face off against No. 15-ranked TCU on the Horned Frogs home court at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 12 at the Schollmaier Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.
