
No. 71 Tennis Readies for Regular Season Finale at Home

COLUMBIA, Mo. - No. 71 University of Missouri tennis will return home this weekend to celebrate its senior class. On Friday, April 11, at 1 p.m. CT, the Tigers will host No. 9 Tennessee. Then, on Sunday, April 13, they will have a doubleheader starting at 10:30 a.m. CT. Mizzou will take on No. 38 Kentucky at 4 p.m. CT against Lindenwood. The Tigers will honor their seniors prior to the morning match, with the ceremony starting at 9:55 a.m. CT.
TIGER TALK
Ranked at No. 71, the Tigers are 12-12 and 2-11 in the Southeastern Conference. This past weekend, they faced a large task as they traveled to No. 18 South Carolina and No. 1 Georgia, where they fell short in both matches 4-0.
Freshman Gian Octa still leads the Tigers in singles wins, with 16 playing mainly at three – six. Junior Andrea Artimedi has the most conference wins for the Tigers, standing at 9-9 overall in singles. Senior Inah Canete and freshman Korina Roso still hold the spot with the highest number of doubles wins, with a 14-6 record together.
THE OPPOSITION
Tennessee is currently ranked No. 9, with a 15-5 overall record, including 9-4 in the SEC. Coming off a loss to No. 9 Auburn last weekend in Knoxville, Tennesee, at Goodfriend Tennis Center on April 6. UT's highest-ranked win this season was against No. 4 at the time, Stanford, 4-2 at the ITA Indoor National Championship.
Kentucky is 11-11 overall and 4-9 in the conference. They are on a two-win streak after losing three straight to top 20 ranked teams. Before heading to Columbia, they will travel to Nashville to go up against No. 13 Vanderbilt on Friday, April 11.
Lindenwood is 4-7 overall and 1-3 in the Ohio Valley Conference. The Tigers already faced the Lions earlier this season, beating them 4-0 on Feb. 22. LU has lost their past two matches and forfeited its most recent on April 8. Lindenwood will play against SEMO on Thursday, April 10, and then Southern Indiana on Saturday, April 12.
