
No. 58 Tennis Squares Off with No. 34 Ole Miss and No. 6 LSU

COLUMBIA, Mo. – No. 58 University of Missouri tennis enters a busy weekend as it heads down the home stretch of the regular season. The Tigers welcome No. 34 Ole Miss to Columbia on Friday, March 28, at noon CT before traveling to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to take on No. 6 LSU and Southeastern Louisiana in doubleheader action on Sunday, March 30. The first serves for the doubleheader will be at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., respectively.
TIGER TALK
Mizzou enters the weekend 11-8 (2-7 SEC) and is coming off a weekend where it split conference matches, including a win over No. 22 Florida 4-3 on March 21. The Tigers did drop a 4-0 match to No. 8 Auburn on March 23, but the weekend efforts earned graduate student Lailaa Bashir Southeastern Conference Player of the Week honors.
Missouri is led this season by senior Inah Canete's 15 overall wins, playing primarily in the No. 2 spot. Bashir has also totaled double-digit wins in singles action with 12, as has freshman Korina Roso (10). In doubles, the combination of Canete and Roso totaled a 14-6 record, while Bashir and freshman Zoe Lazar have won eight matches.
THE OPPOSITION
Coming off a big win over No. 13 Texas on March 23, Ole Miss is 10-8 (3-6 SEC) this season. Prior to that match, they dropped 4-0 to No. 3 Texas A&M on March 21. The Rebels have two players with 15 wins in singles, Ludmilla Kareisova and Lucie Petruzelova. At the same time, the combination of Kareisova and Anaelle Leclercq holds a 16-9 record in doubles and is currently ranked No. 71.
Currently ranked No. 6 and holding a 17-3 (7-2 SEC) record, LSU has only lost conference matches to No. 1 Georgia (4-2, March 14) and No. 3 Texas A&M (6-1, March 23). The Tigers are led in singles by Anita Sahdiieva with a 15-5 record. Moreover, LSU has three players ranked in singles by the ITA: No. 42 Cadence Brace, No. 50 Kayla Cross, and No. 102 Tilwith Di Girolami. In doubles, both their No. 1 and No. 2 pair are ranked, with Brace and Cross at No. 7 and Di Girolami and Sahdiieva at No. 29.
Southeastern Louisiana is currently 10-4 (2-3 SLC) and have won three of its last four matches.
