
Tennis Signs Mariana Higuita Barraza From Colombia

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou tennis head coach Robin Goodman announced the addition of Mariana Higuita Barraza (Medellin, Colombia/ Unicab Virtual), his first signee since taking over the helm, on Monday, June 22.

Higuita Barraza comes to Missouri from Medellin, Colombia, with a Women's Tennis Association (WTA) doubles ranking of 850. She was ranked as high as 1,050 and is currently 1,132nd in singles. In 2026, she advanced to the Round of 16 at Kursumlijska Banja ITF and won the W15 Szentendre doubles.
The incoming freshman holds wins over Jessica Hinojosa Gomez, ranked 744th (WTA), and a top 10 Blue-Chip recruit, Kori Montoya. Additionally, Higuita Barraza maintains a Universal Tennis Rankings (UTR) of 9.68 in singles and 9.77 in doubles.
