Tennis Hosts a Show Me State Showdown with Missouri State and SEMO

COLUMBIA, Mo. - University of Missouri tennis welcomes Missouri State and SEMO to Green Tennis Center on Saturday, Feb. 15, for doubleheader action. The Tigers will face off against Missouri State at 11 a.m. CT and then SEMO at 3:30 p.m. CT.
Missouri State is 1-6, coming off a win after a six-match losing streak. The Bears won their first match by defeating Central Arkansas 6-1 on Feb. 9.
SEMO is 5-5 and has been on a four-match winning streak. The Redhawks previously defeated the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) 4-1 and Carson-Newman University 4-1 on Feb. 8. SEMO will take on Arkansas State University today before heading to Columbia.
After a weekend in Minneapolis, Mizzou is 5-1 after losing to Minnesota on Feb. 7, 5-2. The Tigers defeated Colorado State 4-0 and St. Thomas 7-0 on Feb. 8. Claiming all doubles points during the away series and sweeping the singles matches against Colorado State and St. Thomas, the Tigers continue to make a statement. Freshman Gian Octa won her singles match 6-4, 6-0 on court five against Colorado State and then 7-5, 6-2 against St. Thomas. Classmate Zoe Lazar clinched the win on court four 6-1, 6-4 during match one and then finished first on court three 6-0, 6-3. Additionally, freshman Sarah Hartel made her collegiate debut on court six versus St. Thomas, winning 7-5, 6-2. Graduate student Lailaa Bashir clinched the final win of the weekend on court two, 7-6, 5-3.
