
No. 16 Softball Falls in Extras at UCF Tuesday

ORLANDO, Fla. – No. 16 ranked University of Missouri softball fell to UCF in extra innings, 6-5, Tuesday evening at the UCF Softball Complex.
With the loss, MU moves to 4-2 in 2025 while the Knights improve to 6-1 on the season.
Heading into the eighth inning with the score tied at 5-5, UCF utilized a walk and a sacrifice bunt to put a runner in scoring position.
Madison Simon then hit a double to center to complete the midweek walk-off for the Knights.
Mizzou jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning Tuesday punctuated by a Kara Daly three-run homer down the left field line.
The home run was the first of the season for Daly, a senior from Jefferson City, Missouri. She now has 31 in her career at Mizzou.
Daly finished Tuesday 2-for-4 with a season-best three RBI. Leadoff hitter and catcher Julia Crenshaw went 2-for-5 at the plate with a run, a double and a stolen base.
The Knights would respond with five unanswered runs over the next five innings to even the contest at 5-5.
Mya Dodge would prevent the go-ahead run from scoring in the fifth when she threw out the advancing runner at home trying to score. The play was originally called obstruction but was overturned after video review.
Stormy Kotzelnick led UCF Tuesday, going 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.
Mizzou starter Cierra Harrison pitched 4.0 innings Tuesday, allowing two earned runs on three hits with a strikeout.
Nathalie Touchet (0.2IP, one earned run on three hits), Marissa McCann (1.1IP, 0 runs on two hits) and Taylor Pannell each came out of the bullpen in relief.
Pannell (1-2) was assessed the loss, as she gave up one earned run on one hit with a pair of strikeouts over 1.1 innings.
Taylor Ebbs registered an RBI and a run Tuesday.
Abby Hay, Dodge and Claire Cahalan each had a hit in the midweek.
Stefania Abruscato and Hay have each reached base safely in all six games this season while Cahalan is on a five-game streak.
NEXT UP
- Mizzou will next compete in the Shriners Children's Clearwater Invitational Presented by EvoShield Thursday through Saturday, marking MU's second-straight Florida tournament to commence the 2025 campaign.
- MU opens the tournament with No. 8/9 Florida State and Clemson Thursday. Game times are set for 9 a.m., CT and Noon, CT, respectively for the pair of ESPN2 matchups.
