
Tennis Finishes Day One at SDSU Fall Classic

Mizzou tennis wrapped up the first day at the San Diego State Fall Classic today, Nov. 7. Hosted by San Diego State University, the Tigers competed in both singles and doubles quarterfinals.
The morning began at 10 a.m. with a quarterfinal doubles match, where Andrea Artimedi /Mary Brumfield earned a 6-1 win over Colorado State's Hanna Haber and Annika Planinsek in the red flight. Korina Roso/Zoe Lazar also earned a 6-2 win over Gabby Gregg and Maria Shmakov from USD.
Continuing in doubles, duos Michelle Kleynerman/ Alex Ackman and Gian Octa/Julie Bedard were unable to pull away with wins in the quarterfinals.
In the singles column, graduate student Michelle Kleynerman took on Colorado State's Diana Lizarazo at 9:45 but took a loss due to injury. Classmate Mary Brumfield followed with a win over Teja Tirunelveli from SDSU due to a retired match as well.
Sophomore Gian Octa faced SDSU's Vesa Gjinag in the grey flight dropped her first match. In the red flight, sophomore Korina Roso competed against Gabby Gregg from the University of San Diego and came away with a win, while senior Andrea Artimedi lost to Saint Mary's Iman Khan.
Finally, in the silver flight, sophomores Zoe Lazar and Julie Bedard gained singles wins over their respective opponents.
UP NEXT
The Tigers head into the semifinals of the SDSU Fall Classic, Nov. 8. Lazar/Roso, Kleynerman/Ackman and Brumfield/Artimedi are set to compete in the semifinals for doubles competition. Octa and Bedaard will also play the West semifinal doubles match at 10 a.m. Brumfield, Kleynerman, Rosa, Octa, Artimedi, Lazar and Bedard compete in singles semifinals tomorrow.
