After starting the 2025-26 season with a road win, the Mizzou men's basketball team returns home for Tipoff in CoMo. The Tigers host Southeast Missouri on Friday night with a 7 p.m. tipoff on SECN+.

ABOUT THE TIGERS
• Missouri opened the 2025-26 campaign Monday with an 88-67 victory at Howard.
• Senior Shawn Phillips Jr. led the Tigers with a double-double in the winning effort, posting team-best tallies of 16 points and 11 rebounds.
• Graduates Jayden Stone (13) and Jacob Crews (10) also scored in double figures in the opener.
• Sophomore T.O. Barrett led MU with four assists, while junior Anthony Robinson II had a team-best three steals.
• The Tigers shot 55.7 percent in their opener (plus 10-of-19 from 3-point range), while holding the Bison to 35.5 percent from the field.
ABOUT THE REDHAWKS
• Southeast Missouri dropped its opener Monday, falling at Saint Louis, 92-67.
• BJ Ward led four Redhawks in double figures, scoring 16 points and also adding a team-best three assists.
• Landren Blocker led SEMO with seven rebounds.
• Southeast Missouri is coming off a 22-12 season in 2024-25, claiming the OVC regular-season title with a 15-5 record.
SERIES HISTORY
• Mizzou is a perfect 9-0 all-time against its in-state foe, winning all nine contests in Columbia.
• The schools last met during the 2022-23 season. Kobe Brown led MU with 25 points as the Tigers won their ninth-straight to open the campaign.
• Mizzou has won five of the nine games by double digits, winning by an average of 13.7 points.
MIZZOU VERSUS OVC
• Missouri is 42-1 all-time against schools in the Ohio Valley Conference, including a 41-1 mark in Columbia.
• In the first three seasons under Coach Gates, the Tigers are a perfect 6-0 versus the OVC, winning their six contests by an average of 17.5 points.
MIZZOU IN HOME OPENERS
• After opening the 2025-26 season at Howard, the Tigers are set for their first game in front of their home fans at Mizzou Arena.
• Overall, Mizzou owns a 104-15 all-time record in its first home game of the season and have won 10-straight home debuts.
• The Tigers' 10-game winning streak in home openers have come by an average of 21.2 points.
TAKING THE SHOW ON THE ROAD
• While the Tigers are making their home debut on Friday, the team put on a show in the season opener at Howard.
• Mizzou's win on Monday marks the first time it won a road season opener since 2003, while the 21-point win is its largest since in a road opener since a 52-29 win at Saint Louis in 1941.
• The Tigers are one of only 13 schools to win their season opener on the road and the only one from a power conference.
PHILLIPS DOUBLES UP
• Senior center Shawn Phillips Jr. made a splash in his first game in the Black & Gold.
• In Monday's opener at Howard, Phillips led the Tigers with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
• It marked the fourth double-double for Phillips during his career, while he also became the first Tiger to collect a double-double in his Mizzou debut since Ronnie DeGray in 2021.
STARTING HOT
• The Tigers were hot from the field in the opener.
• Mizzou made 55.7 percent from the field with a 52.6 percent clip (10-of-19) from 3-point range.
• It marks the first time the Tigers made at least 50 percent from the field and from beyond the arc in an opener since 2016-17 and the first time in any road game since 2022-23.
• Shooting 50 percent is almost a guaranteed win as MU is 31-1 under Coach Gates when hitting the mark, including 13-0 dating back to last year.
MITCHELL EARNS PRESEASON NODS
• Senior Mark Mitchell is one of the top returners in the SEC and in the nation this season.
• Mitchell is one of 50 players named to the Oscar Roberts Trophy Preseason Watch List – which is presented to the men's national player of the year by the USBWA.
• The senior was also named to the Preseason All-SEC Second Team.
• Mitchell, who led the Tigers with 13.9 points last season, tallied nine points to go with six boards in the opener.
RETURNERS & TRANSFER BALANCE
• The new-look Tigers feature a strong balance of returning players and newcomers.
• The five transfers that joined MU in the offseason accounted for 59.1 percent of the scoring and 63.6 percent of rebounds.
• The four returning players that saw action tallied 66.7 percent of the team's steals and blocks.
