WHERE IT ALL STARTED
• Friday's matchup features Coach Dennis Gates taking on his former school.
• Now in his fourth season as Whitten Family Head Coach at Mizzou, Gates joined the Tigers after spending three seasons at Cleveland State.
• With the Vikings, Gates rebuilt the CSU program with 50 wins, two regular-season Horizon League titles, one tournament crown and the school's first trip to the NCAA Tournament in 12 years.
• Additionally, four other members of the current Mizzou staff also were on the staff at Cleveland State – Ryan Sharbaugh (2019-22), David "Dickey Nutt (2019-21), Steve Wright (2019-20) and Matt Cline (2021-22).
WELCOME BACK
• A number of former Tigers are making their return to Mizzou Arena on Friday.
• Most notable, first-year CSU head coach Rob Summers is back after spending the 2024-25 season as offensive coordinator with the Tigers – MU ranked ninth nationally in scoring offense.
• Additionally, CSU assistant coach Dalon King was at MU from 2022 to 2025, serving as Director of Operations last year, while CSU graduate assistant Griffin Been was a student manager at Mizzou.
SCORING DEPTH
• Mizzou features one of the nation's deepest teams in 2025-26.
• The Tigers currently have six players averaging 10-plus points per game, led by 18.1 from senior Mark Mitchell.
• MU is one of six teams with six players scoring in double figures this season – joining Middle Tennessee, NC State, UCLA, UNC Wilmington and Vanderbilt.
DOUBLE-DIGIT THREATS
• The real key to the MU's success on the offensive side is its number of weapons.
• Of the 12 players to feature for MU this year, nine have scored in double figures at least once.
• Sophomores Annor Boateng (12) and T.O. Barrett (11) were the most recent to do so – each scoring a career-best total in Tuesday's win.
• Twice this season, Mizzou has had at least six players score 10 points in a game this season.
EARLY NATIONAL LEADER
• The Tigers have not wasted any of time finding their shooting touch in 2025-26.
• MU is making 56.8 percent of its field goals this season with a 3-point clip of 41.9 percent.
• In fact, Mizzou currently ranks first nationally with its 56.8 percent overall clip and 11th with its 3-point percentage of 41.9.
HOT SHOOTING LEADS THE WAY
• The key to the Tigers ranking among the nation's best shooters is their consistency
• Mizzou has eclipsed 50 percent shooting in all seven of its games in 2025-26.
• It marks the Tigers' longest streak to start a season since a seven-game run to begin the 1982-83 campaign and their longest run in any stretch of a season since 1988-89 (13 games).
• Overall, Mizzou and Colorado are the only two schools (of 365) to shoot at least 50 percent in every game this year.
