Missouri outshoots the Crimson Tide on goal and earns a 6-3 corner kick margin.
Mizzou soccer dropped its match against Alabama, 3-0, on Sunday afternoon at Audrey J. Walton Soccer Stadium.
Missouri (4-8-1, 1-5-0 SEC) battled throughout the match and recorded its highest shot-on-goal total in the last four games with five. The Tigers created several strong opportunities and limited Alabama's (9-4-1, 3-3-0 SEC) chances after an early scoring surge, holding the Crimson Tide without an on-target attempt for more than 44 minutes following goals in the fifth and seventh.
Missouri responded immediately with an on-target attempt from Emily Derucki (Wildwood, Mo.) in the eighth minute that forced a save. Moments later, Mizzou earned its first corner kick of the day, leading to a shot from Mia Yang (Leawood, Kan.) that the opposing keeper near the bottom-right post saved. MU held a 6-3 edge in corner kicks, its eighth match this season finishing with a positive margin.
After the early sequence, Missouri's back line settled in and held firm for the remainder of the half.
In the second period, the Tigers continued to press forward, generating multiple scoring chances, including shots on goal from Ava Lamothe (Lenexa, Kan.) and Brianna Buels (Indianapolis, Ind.), who recorded her fourth match of the season with multiple shots. Buels recorded her fourth match of the season with multiple shots.
A late Alabama goal in the 87th minute capped the scoring.
Kate Phillips (Fishers, Ind.) collected three saves in net, marking her 10th multi-save performance of the season. Overall, Missouri finished with six shots and five on goal.
