The Tigers honor those impacted by breast cancer in their upcoming game against Alabama.
Mizzou soccer holds its annual Pink Out Game, sponsored by MU Health Care, when the Tigers face Alabama on Sunday, October 5, at 2 p.m. CT at Audrey J. Walton Soccer Stadium
Fans are encouraged to wear pink in support of breast cancer awareness. At halftime, attendees will take part in an "I Stand For" moment, recognizing individuals affected by cancer.
For several members of the team, including freshman Jasira Gates and assistant coach Austen Parker, this game carries personal significance.
"My Aunt Shauna and Aunt Felicia were impacted by breast cancer, and they both mean the world to me as they helped me to become the person and player I am today," Gates said. "Breast cancer brought our family closer in different ways by the support we needed to provide. The Pink Out game is a chance to honor those who have fought breast cancer and express my support. This game is important because it brings people together for a meaningful cause."
"My mom means everything to me," Coach Parker said. "She has supported me in all my goals in life, been there for me on my lowest days and my best days. Breast cancer turned our world upside down, but her faith and positivity never wavered. She fought like no other and was officially declared cancer-free at the end of 2024. Having a game dedicated to breast cancer is special to my family and something people all over our community will be grateful for."
The game is also part of the program's Sunday Funday initiative. Fans in attendance will have access to free candy while supplies last, a bounce house, yard games, and Zydeco's Cajun Kitchen food truck.
In addition to breast cancer awareness, the contest will feature a mental health awareness table as part of Missouri's season-long awareness day campaign.\
Kickoff against the Crimson Tide is scheduled for 2 p.m. CT. The contest will be televised on SEC Network.
