
Volleyball Wraps Up SEC Homestand 4-0, With Georgia Victory

The Tigers now host a six-match winning streak heading into their Tennessee road trip.
Mizzou Volleyball (15-7, 6-4 SEC) secured its fifth-straight conference victory, against Georgia (14-6, 6-4 SEC), 3-1 (25-22, 22-25, 25-14, 26-24), on Sunday, Oct. 26, at Hearnes Center.
The Tigers held the Bulldogs to a .167 hitting percentage for the match, as they tallied 13 blocks in the four sets.
KEY PLAYERS
- Senior Caylen Alexander led the team with 22 kills
- Redshirt Senior Tyrah Ariail recorded a hitting percentage of .435 with 12 kills and added five blocks to her stat line.
- Senior Maya Sands dominated the back row with 23 digs.
- Senior Regan Haith led the Tigers defensively with six blocks.
- Redshirt junior Marina Crownover completed her ninth double-double of the season with 47 assists and 11 digs.
FIRST SET (25-22, Mizzou leads 1-0)
The set started with both teams trading points until Georgia opened up a 12-8 lead. The Tigers then railed for five straight points to put themselves ahead 13-12.
Mizzou continued to keep the momentum going in the set, growing their lead to 19-15, highlighted by a pair of kills from Alexander. The Bulldogs rallied to tie the set up at 21-21. However, MU stood their ground, collecting a kill from Ariail and a block from Crownover and Haith, guiding the Tigers to a set victory with a final score of 25-22.
SECOND SET (22-25, Match tied 1-1)
The set began similarly to the first, with both teams trading points before the Tigers opened up a 10-7 lead. The first part of the set was highlighted by a pair of kills from Ariail and Alexander.
Georgia was quick to respond, putting together four-straight points, giving it a 13-11 lead. The Tigers immediately fired back with a three-point run spurred on by an Ariail block, putting Mizzou up 14-13. Both teams traded points back-and-forth for the remainder of the set until a late 4-0 scoring run from Georgia helped push the Bulldogs over the top in the set by a final score of 25-22.
THIRD SET (25-14, Mizzou leads 2-1)
Tigers came out rolling in the set; a pair of three-point runs, highlighted by back-to-back kills from Ariail, helped put Mizzou up 6-1 and forced Georgia into a timeout.
Mizzou kept the momentum going, putting up another three-point run to make it 9-2, prompting another Georgia timeout. Tigers continued to cruise in the set, leading by as many as 12 points, with multiple kills from Alexander, Crownover and Haith, helping lead Mizzou to a decisive 25-14 set victory.
FOURTH SET (25-14, Mizzou wins 3-1)
Things slowed down for Mizzou to start the set as both teams came out firing until the Tigers put together a 3-0 run with a kill from freshman Maca Lobaglio, putting Missouri up 11-7.
Both teams continued trading blows in the set until a late five-point Georgia run put the Bulldogs up 24-22. The Tigers responded with a four-point run led by three straight kills by Alexander and a service ace from Crownover. That final stretch let Mizzou take care of business in the set, winning it 26-24.
GAME NOTES
- Mizzou leads the all-time series against Georgia 13-10, and now has a two-match winning streak against the Bulldogs.
- Dawn Sullivan is now 55-29 as the Tigers head coach, 164-67 overall and is 2-1 against Georgia as MU's head coach.

- The Tigers take a trip to Tennessee, where they will face the Tennessee Volunteers' on their home court at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31, at the Cronan Arena in Knoxville, Tennessee. MU will then take a trip to Nashville to take on Vanderbilt at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 2 at the Vanderbilt Memorial Gymnasium.
