Missouri’s final home match of the regular season comes on Sunday against No. 11 Arkansas.
Mizzou soccer dropped a 2-1 decision to Texas A&M on Thursday evening at Ellis Field in College Station, Texas.
Missouri (4-10-1, 1-7-0 SEC) erased an early deficit with a late first-half goal but was unable to overcome a second-half penalty from the Aggies (5-6-4, 2-5-1 SEC).
Texas A&M opened the scoring in the third minute, but the Tigers answered just before the break, as Olivia Chianelli (Arlington Heights, Ill.) buried a penalty kick in the 45th minute to even the score heading into halftime, her second goal of the year.
The Aggies regained the advantage in the 72nd minute after converting on a penalty kick, taking the match after Missouri was unable to find a late equalizer. The Tigers totaled 10 second-half shots and four corner kicks in the final frame of action.
Goalkeeper Kate Phillips (Fishers, Ind.) matched her season-high with six saves, splitting them evenly across both halves to keep the Tigers within striking distance. Landis Canada (Overland Park, Kan.) led Missouri with two shots on goal, while McKenna Moran (St. Louis, Mo.) and Chianelli added one each.
