No. 66 Tennis Drops Match to No. 18 South Carolina

No. 66-ranked University of Missouri tennis started its weekend trip dropping a match 4-0 to No. 18 South Carolina.

COLUMBIA, S.C. - No. 66-ranked University of Missouri tennis started its weekend trip dropping a match 4-0 to No. 18 South Carolina. Mizzou is now 12-11 and 2-10 in Southeastern Conference matches, while South Carolina is 13-7 and 8-4 in SEC play.

Starting in doubles play, Missouri went down 1-0, losing at No. 2 and 3, 6-4. Senior Mary Brumfield and freshman Korina Roso at No. 1 went up against the No. 31-ranked doubles pair and fought hard, but the match went unfinished, 6-6.

In singles, the Tigers went up against three nationally-ranked singles players, with two of the three matches going unfinished. At No. 2, senior Inah Canete went up against No. 59 Kaitlyn Carnicella and battled as the match went unfinished with the score of 5-7, 0-2. At No. 4, freshman Zoe Lazar pushed as she won the first set against No. 97 Misa Malkin going 6-0, 3-3 before going unfinished. Freshman Gian Octa won the first set against her opponent and was up in the second set 6-3, 4-3 before going unfinished at No. 6.

The Tigers will head to Georgia as they face off against the No.1 team in the country on Sunday, April 6, at noon CT at Dan Magill Tennis Complex.
