Women's Basketball Races Past Jackson State

COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri women's basketball closed out non-conference play with a 90-51 win over Jackson State on Sunday afternoon inside Mizzou Arena.
Senior forward Laniah Randle joined the 1,000-point club during the outing, stuffing the stat sheet with 11 points, seven rebounds, four assists, four steals and a block. She has scored in double figures in all but four games this season.
Sophomore guard Grace Slaughter totaled 22 points, shooting 8-of-12 from the field including 4-of-6 from beyond the arc, marking her fourth game with at least 20 points during the 2024-25 campaign.
Graduate forward Angelique Ngalakulondi notched her 10th career double-double and first of the season in just 21 minutes of action, finishing with 11 points, 10 rebounds and tying a career-high four blocks.
Junior guard Ashton Judd and sophomore guard Abbey Shreacke each tallied 10 points on the day. Judd brought down seven boards, marking her ninth game recording at least five this year.
Missouri (11-4) opened the contest on a 12-1 run after turning over Jackson State (2-9) three times, with Ngalakulondi and Slaughter earning their first four points of the day. Slaughter cashed in her first bucket from deep on the day following JSU's lone field goal of the first quarter, giving the Black and Gold a 15-3 advantage at the four-minute mark.
MU began to widen its lead on the scoreboard in the second quarter, hauling in four offensive rebounds at the midpoint and rattling off seven straight points. Slaughter's second 3-pointer of the afternoon put the team up 37-14 and forced a Jackson State timeout.
At the half, Mizzou carried a 46-19 advantage heading into the locker room. Ngalakulondi's impact on the game was felt everywhere, as the graduate totaled eight points, seven rebounds and four blocks.
Slaughter, a Grain Valley, Missouri native, shot 7-of-9 in the first half to lead the team with 17 points. The team connected on 54.3 percent of its 35 shots in the opening 20 minutes.
MU continued to impress in the second half, opening the third on a 12-2 run with a pair of buckets from Averi Kroenke. The team stifled JSU defensively, holding its opponent without a made basket for a six-minute stretch in the quarter.
Graduate guard De'Myla Brown scored eight points in the fourth quarter as Mizzou closed out non-conference play with its ninth home win this season.
