OXFORD, Miss. – The No. 25 ranked University of Missouri volleyball team (19-6, 10-3 SEC) registered a five-set comeback win (25-19, 21-25, 16-25, 25-16, 15-11) over Ole Miss (16-10, 6-8 SEC) Friday evening at the Gillom Athletic Performance Center.

With the victory, Missouri has now registered double-digit SEC wins for the first time since 2020 (15 SEC wins). Mizzou is now fourth in the SEC standings behind Florida (11-3), Texas (11-3) and Kentucky (12-2).

Four Tigers notched double-doubles in the victory paced by Mychael Vernon's 18 kills and 12 digs with two blocks and an ace. Friday marked the second time in 2024, MU had four double-double performances, last achieving the feat against Mississippi State (Oct. 20).

Jordan Iliff finished with 16 kills and 14 digs to go with three blocks and a career-high three assists. It marked the 12th double-double of the campaign for Iliff and Vernon.

Setters Marina Crownover and Sierra Dudley compiled the final two double-double outings Friday. Crownover tallied 22 assists and 13 digs in the start while Dudley added 18 assists and 10 digs. Crownover now has nine double-doubles this season while it was the second of the year for Dudley, a 2023 SEC All-Freshman selection.

Janet deMarrais was the third Tiger attacker in double-digits behind Vernon and Iliff, notching 14 kills and two blocks. 

Libero Maya Sands led six MU student-athletes in double-digits defensively, grabbing 24 digs and six assists.

Kiaraliz Perez Catala totaled 10 digs with a career-best matching three aces. She posted three-straight aces in the opening set Friday.

Mizzou notched 11 blocks as a team and has now posted 11 or more in each of the last three matches.

FIRST SET (25-19 Mizzou, Mizzou leads 1-0)

The first set featured 12 ties and seven lead changes.

Ole Miss went into the media stoppage ahead 15-14 before scoring three-straight (18-15) to prompt a Tigers timeout.

Mizzou then utilized a 9-0 run for set point (24-18).

Colleen Finney and Vernon slammed consecutive kills before Perez Catala rattled off three-straight aces. Vernon added a solo block before three Rebels miscues concluded the run.

Ole Miss would score once more before a kill from Vernon secured the opening set for Mizzou (25-19).

Vernon had seven kills on a .353 clip to commence the match. Iliff added four and Crownover tallied 10 assists.

SECOND SET (25-21 Ole Miss, Tied 1-1)

The second set also featured double-digit ties with 11.

Tied at 12-12, Ole Miss scored six unanswered for an 18-12 lead.

A kill by Iliff followed by consecutive rally stoppers by deMarrais cut the deficit to two (22-20).

Ole Miss then scored three of the final four to even the match at 1-1 (25-21). Crownover notched a setter kill to fend off set point (24-21).

THIRD SET (25-16 Ole Miss, Ole Miss leads 2-1)

Missouri scored the first two points before a kill by Crownover made the score 8-7 Ole Miss.

The Rebels then scored six unanswered for a 14-7 lead.

Ole Miss then went on an 8-1 rally for set point (24-13).

Mizzou would score three times before Ole Miss extended its lead in the match to 2-1 (25-16).

FOURTH SET (25-16 Mizzou, Tied 2-2)

Mizzou jumped out to a 6-2 edge that grew to 12-6 after a 6-1 run.

A Vernon kill extended the margin to 15-11.

Iliff slammed a rally stopper following a Mizzou block assist for a 17-13 lead.

Mizzou then went on a 5-0 run to widen the gap to 22-14.

deMarrais chipped in a termination (23-15) as Mizzou forced a fifth frame after an Iliff ace (25-16).

Iliff had six kills over the fourth stanza on a .333 clip. deMarrais added five kills (.455). Dudley passed out 10 assists.

Mizzou hit a match-best .325 in the fourth and finished the match with .286 in the fifth set.

FIFTH SET (15-11 Mizzou, Mizzou wins 3-2)

Mizzou scored the first three points of the fifth frame.

Vernon added a kill before an Ole Miss miscue made the score 5-1.

The Rebels knotted the set at 5-5 before a 4-1 sequence put the Tigers ahead 9-6. Iliff had a pair of kills before a block assist by Regan Haith and deMarrais.

Ole Miss cut the edge to one (9-8) before three-straight from Mizzou (12-8). Iliff notched consecutive terminations before a deMarrais kill.

Iliff added another kill and had five (.571) over the set.

The Rebels would score twice more (13-11) as Mizzou secured the comeback win with kills by Finney and Vernon.

• Missouri next heads to Starkville for a meeting with Mississippi State (10-13, 4-10 SEC) Sunday. First serve is 2 p.m., CT for Mizzou's SEC road finale at the Newell-Grissom Building.
• Mizzou leads the all-time series with Mississippi State, 17-4. Missouri most recently beat MSU, in four sets in Columbia, Missouri, on Oct. 20.
• Following Mizzou's trip to Mississippi, the Tigers return home to Columbia to wrap the 2024 regular season.
• MU will host No. 12 Kentucky Wednesday, Nov. 27 for Fansgiving at the Hearnes Center. Mizzou then takes on Auburn on Senior Night Saturday, Nov. 30 in the regular-season finale.
