
Men’s Team Places Fifth at SEC Cross Country Championships

Drew Rogers and Rahel Broemmel earn All-SEC honors
COLLEGE STATION, Texas. – University of Missouri men's cross country placed fifth at the SEC Championships on Friday morning at the Dale Watts '71 Cross Country Course, with sophomore Rahel Broemmel and junior Drew Rogers named to the All-SEC Second Teams for their results.
Rogers paced the team, finishing in 11th place and setting a new 8k personal best of 22:54.1. The junior was joined in the top 30 by 26th-place Ryder James and 27th-place Declan Tunney, who earned times of 23:23.0 and 23:24.8, respectively, both of which were career bests.
The women took 13th in their 6k race and were led by Broemmel, who placed 13th individually and set a new personal best result by finishing in 19.39.7. Her sub-20-minute time marks the first Mizzou women's runner to reach the 19-minute mark since Sarah Chapman finished the 2020 SEC Championship race in 19:58.8. The sophomore has led the Tigers in each of the team's five races and set new 6k records in each competition this season.
The men's fifth-place result is the program's best in the SEC Championship since 2021. The team also set a new season-best average race time of 23:29.6, beating its previous record by over 45 seconds which was set at the Crimson Classic. In total, seven individuals set new 8k bests.
Nicole Louw's time of 20:31.1 has marked the fifth-fastest 6k time for the Missouri women this season. Anneken Viljoen, a senior, earned a time of 20:38.5, which is her new best, beating the previous record set at the Crimson Classic.

- 10 of the 20 Mizzou student-athletes set personal bests in their respective races – Drew Rogers, Ryder James, Declan Tunney, Tyler Freiner, Jamie Mora, Joshua Allison, Brenden Heitzig, Rahel Broemmel, Anneken Viljoen and Elissa Barnard.
- Drew Rogers led the men for the second-straight race and set the team's best 8k time this season previously held by Ryder James with a 23:26.8 result at the Crimson Classic.
- Rahel Broemmel now holds three of the women's team's top 6k times after setting a new personal best in the SEC Championship.
