DES MOINES, Iowa - The University of Missouri tennis team marked the end of the fall season with the last day of competition at the Drake Invite hosted by Drake University on Nov. 5. The Tigers walked away from the Roger Knapp Tennis Center with seven wins from the weekend with four singles and three doubles victories.

Mizzou won their three singles matches against the University of St. Thomas on their final day of play. Sophomore Andrea Artimedi secured the win against Marthe Degeorges (6-2, 6-2), with senior Romary Cardenas Rifka also earning a victory against Jannah El Nemr (6-0, 6-2). Junior Sophia McLellan battled against Regina Talavera and won after a hard-fought match in three sets (3-6, 6-0, 6-4).

Doubles duos of graduate student Emelie Schwarte/Artimedi and Cardenas Rifka/McLellan all saw action against Drake University as they closed out the weekend in Des Moines. A

ASSOCIATE HEAD COACH BRIAN WARD

"The group was A little tired this last tournament, as expected. It's been a long fall season, and the team has trained hard in the gym and on the court. We didn't have the best start the first day with singles against Drake University. We played too passive overall, but the team bounced back, finishing up with two very good days of competition. Gabi had an impressive win yesterday against Minnesota, and we won all three singles matches we played today. It was a very positive and encouraging ending. Andrea, Romary and Sophia played some good tennis and showed confidence on the court, which was one of our main goals today. Now, it's time for the team to rest for a few days. We'll be back on court on Wednesday to keep building and get ready for the Spring."
