COLUMBIA, Mo. – The University of Missouri track and field team wrapped up the 2023 outdoor regular season with seven podium finishes at the Rock Chalk Classic in Lawrence, Kan. on Saturday.
For the women, Alicia Burnett set a new personal record and tied the seventh-fastest time in program history in the women's 200m, placing fourth overall and finishing in 23.98. Dan Brookling highlighted the men's team by winning the 1500m with a time of 3:47.99.
NOTABLE RESULTS
- Sydney Oberdiek placed second in the hammer throw with a mark of 62.01 (203-5)
- McKenna Butler finished sixth in the 1500m with a personal-best time of 4:48.55
- In his 1500m debut, Drew Rogers took first in the race with a time of 3:52.33
- Johnny Martin and Austin Popplewell notched personal-best times in the 1500m at 3:55.83 and 3:59.47, respectively.
- Sam Innes posted a personal best in the men's hammer throw — throwing 62.53m and finishing fifth.
- Kaesha George notched her third-straight personal-best mark to claim first place in the javelin at 45.58 (149-6).
- La'Rue Martin finished sixth in the 100m dash with a new personal-best time of 10.74
- Ethan Lee placed fourth in the men's 800m in 1:53.72.
- Zachary Charles tied his personal best in the men's 400m hurdles, placing fifth in 52.28s.
- Jayson Ashford placed second in the men's 200m, running in 21.10s.
- Jacob Brunsman (21.70s), La'Rue Martin (21.72s), Robert Hines (21.89s) and Marc Poland (22.29s) set personal bests in the men's 200m.
- Isabelle Christiansen placed third in the women's 1500m in 4:29.94.
- Kelsey Schweizer (4:31.82), Jenna Schwartz (4:34.64) and Renee Lewis (4:38.10) posted personal best times in the women's 1500m.
- Kaia Downs placed third in the women's 800m with a 11:20.70 finish.
