Three Tigers Set Top-10 Marks in Start of Outdoor Season

One school record and two all-time top-10 marks were set to open up the season.
COLUMBIA, Mo. — University of Missouri track and field opened up the 2022 outdoor season on Thursday and Friday at three meets: Raleigh Relays, Ole Miss Classic and Texas Relays.
NOTABLE FINISHES
On day one of the Raleigh Relays, Martin Prodanov (Plovidiv, Bulgaria) broke the outdoor school record in the men's 1,500m with a time of 3:40.73. He finished fourth in the race overall. Marquette Wilhite (Warrensburg, Mo.) finished 20th in the men's 5,000m with a clocking of 13:53.98, besting his previous time by approximately 15 seconds. Wilhite moves from sixth to No. 2 on the outdoor top-10 list.
On Friday at Texas Relays, Claudina Diaz (Merida, Yucatan, Mexico) finished second in section B of the women's high jump with a clearance of 1.77m (5-9.75). Georgi Nachev (Yambol, Bulgaria) placed second in section A of the men's triple jump with a leap of 16.19m (53-1.5).
At the Ole Miss Classic, Sydney Oberdiek (Platte City, Mo.) won the women's hammer throw with a toss of 61.01m (200-2), setting a new personal best. Her throw moves her to No. 5 all-time at Mizzou.
UP NEXT
Competition will continue at both Texas Relays and the Ole Miss Classic on Saturday. Roberto Vilches (Mexico City, Mexico) will wrap up the Texas Relays at 10 a.m. CT in the men's high jump. Action at the Ole Miss Classic will begin at 9 a.m. CT with the men's javelin.
