Mizzou Falls to No. 22 Old Dominion

NORFOLK, Va. – The University of Missouri tennis team (5-6) dropped its match at No. 22 Old Dominion on Friday, Feb. 25, 0-4.
The Tigers made a late comeback in singles play, but were unable to capitalize before the match was called. Bronte Murgett took No. 37 Yulia Starodubtseva to a third set after a strong showing in the second set, 1-6, 6-4, 1-1 (unfinished). Elys Ventura was similarly on the brink of forcing a set three against Alesya Yakubovich before her match was called, 4-6, 5-3 (unfinished). Ellie Wright reamained in the driver's seat of her match versus No. 80 Alexandra Viktorovich when play was stopped, 6-4, 3-4, unfinished. Old Dominion played strong out of the gate and took a quick four points before Mizzou could answer.
"ODU is a very solid team. They played well at every spot today. We finished in a fury of games on multiple courts but unfortunately it was a bit too late." said coach Chris Wootton. "We will take the lessons from playing a Top 25 team to Florida and get one percent better each day."
Mizzou heads south where they will face Florida Atlantic University on Sunday, Feb. 27, and the University of North Florida on Monday, Feb. 28.
