
No. 7 Wrestling Falls Short at No. 9 Virginia Tech

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The No. 7-ranked University of Missouri wrestling team fell, 17-15, to No. 9-ranked Virginia Tech. Sunday, Dec. 11.
Mizzou got on the board as redshirt senior Allan Hart (141) and redshirt junior Brock Mauller (149) earned 8-2 and 7-5 decisions, respectively. The Tigers trailed 10-6 at the halfway point of the dual.
Sophomores Keegan O'Toole and Rocky Elam grabbed decisions of their own. O'Toole came out on top, 8-4, at 165 pounds, while R. Elam dominated at 197 pounds with a 7-0 result. Behind, 17-12, entering the 285 matchup, redshirt junior Zach Elam earned a 4-2 decision as the Tigers fell 17-15 at Virginia Tech.
MATCH NOTES
Mizzou's all-time record against Virginia Tech moves to 4-3, with the Hokies winning the last three meetings between the two teams.
Sophomore Logan Gioffre made his dual debut as a Tiger, stepping in at 157 pounds.
With the 8-4 decision, O'Toole has now won 36 consecutive bouts dating back to the 2021 NCAA Tournament.
UP NEXT
The Tigers return home to host No. 15 North Dakota State inside the Hearnes Center Tuesday, Dec. 20. The matchup is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. CT.
