TIGERS VERSUS SOUTHLAND
• Missouri is 19-2 all-time against the Southland Conference with an 18-1 mark in Columbia.
• In its last nine meetings with Southland foes (dating back to 2006-07), MU has won all but one by at least 20 points with the nine victories coming by an average of 27.8 points (82.2 to 54.4).
UNDEFEATED AT 6-0
• The Tigers are enjoying one of their best starts in the past decade.
• At 6-0, Mizzou has matched its best start to a year in the last nine seasons – also winning its first six games in 2020-21.
• With a win on Saturday, MU will have won its first seven games of a season for the first time since the 2013-14 team began the year 10-0.
• Mizzou is one of just 33 teams in the nation (of 363 schools) that remains unbeaten on the year.
TEMPO TEMPO
• One of the biggest changes in the Tigers' attack this season that has led to an increased scoring offense is in its tempo.
• Mizzou ranks 15th nationally in adjusted tempo with 73.5 possessions per game, while placing 12th with 14.9 seconds per offensive possession.
• Missouri hasn't ranked in the top 100 nationally in tempo since 2012-13 (94th) and in the top 50 since 2010-11 (14th).
NO. 6 SCORING OFFENSE
• The increased tempo is one reason for the Tigers owning the nation's sixth-ranked scoring offense at 91.3 points per game.
• The Tigers are also scoring their points thanks to an efficient attack that is making their shots.
• MU leads the SEC in both field goal percentage (50.7) and effective field goal percentage (58.5), ranking 21st and 22nd nationally, respectively.
NATIONAL LEADER IN ASSISTS
• The Tigers' unselfish play has also allowed MU to get off to its strong start offensively.
• Mizzou currently ranks first of 363 schools nationally with 22.3 assists per game.
• The Tigers are coming off a game when they recorded a season-best 27 assists – the most for the team since the 2010-11 season.
DEFENSIVE DISRUPTION
• On the defensive end, the Tigers have excelled forcing turnovers en route to their strong start.
• The Tigers currently rank second nationally with 13.5 steals per game, while placing fifth in the country by forcing 21.8 turnovers per game.
• In Wednesday's win over Coastal Carolina, the Tigers forced 27 turnovers with 16 steals.
• It marks the team's most steals (second time with 16 this season) and turnovers forced since the 2010-11 campaign against North Florida.
FIELD GOAL PCT. DEFENSE
• MU has also forced teams into bad-shooting days.
• Mizzou has held each of its last four opponents to under 40 percent shooting – its longest streak since a five-game run in December 2019.
• Additionally, twice foes were held under 30 percent – including on Wednesday when MU held the nation's No. 6 offense to just 24.6 percent.
• Despite being just six games into the season, Mizzou has held two foes under 30 percent in a year for just the second time in the last 10 seasons.
