No. 16 Gymnastics Opens 2022 Campaign Friday

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The University of Missouri Gymnastics team begins its 2022 campaign hosting a tri-meet on Friday, Jan. 1 at 7 p.m inside Hearnes Center.

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The University of Missouri Gymnastics team begins its 2022 campaign hosting a tri-meet on Friday, Jan. 1 at 7 p.m inside Hearnes Center. 

The meet will feature Ball State and Illinois State. Southwest Missouri will not compete like initially scheduled due to COVID-19 protocol. This meet will air on. 

SERIES SNAPSHOT

  • Mizzou leads the all-time series against Ball St. 6-4. The last time these two sides met was in 2017, with Mizzou taking the match. 
  • In the all-time series against Illinois St., the Tigers led 18-4. The last time the two sides met was in 2014, with Mizzou winning the meet. 

MIZZOU NOTABLES

  • This season marks the third-consecutive year the Tigers have been ranked 16 in the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association going into the season. This also marks the sixth-consecutive season, Mizzou was selected in the top 20. 
  • After earning its highest-ever Southeastern Conference Championship score, the Tigers look to continue their success.  
  • Junior Hellen Hu returns to the lineup for the Tigers. She missed last season due to an injury. 
  • The freshman class represents the nation's fourth-ranked recruiting class.
