COLUMBIA, Mo. – On Thursday, the Southeastern Conference released the 2022 Softball Conference Schedule. Conference play will begin on March 11 and run through May 8. The regular-season conference schedule includes eight three-game series for each team for a total of 24 games. The schedule is subject to change, including the move of some conference series to conclude on Mondays. The Tigers will play four series at home and four on the road.
Mizzou Softball is poised for another run in the NCAA Tournament after finishing the 2021 season with a Super Regional appearance and a top-15 final ranking. Mizzou returns every starter from the 2021 season, including "super seniors" Cayla Kessinger, Brooke Wilmes, Kimberly Wert, Abby George, Hatti Moore, Casidy Chaumont, and Kendyll Bailey. Each is returning for their fifth or sixth season of collegiate softball. The Tigers also return the reigning Freshman of the Year in the SEC in shortstop Jenna Laird.
Mizzou will open SEC play at home against Tennessee (March 11-13). The Tigers and Vols met on the final weekend of the 2021 regular season, where Missouri took the final two games to take the series.
After a scheduled SEC weekend bye, the Tigers will travel to Ole Miss (Mar. 25-27). Mizzou faced the Rebels in a single non-conference matchup early in 2021. Mizzou won by a score of 6-2 in Boca Raton, Florida.
Mizzou will then welcome an SEC East foe with South Carolina (April 1-3) coming to town for a three-game set. The Tigers swept the Gamecocks in 2021.
Then, Mizzou will face the Bulldogs of Mississippi State and Georgia back-to-back. The Tigers will first hit the road to face Mississippi State (Apr. 8-10) before returning home to face Georgia (Apr. 14-16). The Georgia series will be played from Thursday to Saturday due to Easter weekend.
Following the homestand, Missouri will hit the road to take on Kentucky (Apr. 22-24). Mizzou swept the Wildcats in the last meeting between the programs.
Texas A&M will come to Columbia for the final home series of the season (Apr. 29-May 1), before the Tigers finish the regular season in Tuscaloosa with the Crimson Tide (May 6-8).
The SEC Tournament will take place in Gainesville, Florida from May 10-14.
Game times and television assignments will be announced at a later date.
