
Sophia Yoemans Claims Minnesota State Amateur Championship

Yoemans clinches the victory after forcing a playoff on the 18th hole
WACONIA, MN. – Mizzou Women's Golf rising junior Sophia Yoemans (Red Wing, MN) clinched the Minnesota Golf Association Amateur Championship at Island View Golf Club (6,029, Par-72) on Wednesday afternoon after forcing a playoff on the 18th hole. Going head-to-head against Taylor Ledwein of Bradley University, Yoemans parred the second playoff hole to claim her victory. She ended the 54-hole event with a 4-under 212.
Coming out of the gate hot on Monday, Yoemans fired a 3-under 69 in the first round which featured five birdies and earned her the top spot on the leaderboard. She continued her solid play into Tuesday where she carded an even-par 72, yet trailed Ledwein by one-stroke heading into the final round. She rounded out her event score with a 1-under 71 in the third round.
