Mizzou improves to 11-3 on the season with the victory

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Tennis (11-3, 0-0 SEC) earned a bounce back win on Sunday at the Mizzou Tennis Complex, winning 4-1 over Iowa State (7-1, 0-0 Big 12). Mizzou earned the doubles point and won three matches in singles play to earn the victory.

DOUBLES

In doubles action, Mizzou earned the point after wins on courts 1 and 3. The team of junior Bronte Murgett (Holmfirth, Great Britain) and senior Marta Oliveira (Lisbon, Portugal) won on court 1, 7-6, while senior Serena Nash (Bradford, England) and senior Gabrielle Goldin (Bradenton, Fla.) won on court 3, 7-6.

SINGLES

Murgett, senior Ellie Wright (Gainesville, Fla.) and Oliveira won in singles play to clinch the victory for the Tigers, winning on courts 1, 2 and 4, respectively. Each match went to three sets, including comeback victories from Murgett and Oliveira after dropping the first set.

UP NEXT

Mizzou will now transition to SEC play, as the Tigers host Ole Miss at Noon CT on Thursday, Feb. 18 and Mississippi State on Saturday, Feb. 20 at Noon CT.
