Mizzou Track & Field Completes Music City Challenge to Close Out Regular Season

The Tigers notch three event wins and set 18 personal records on the weekend
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Mizzou Track and Field finished the 2021 indoor season at the Music City Challenge in Nashville, Tennessee on Friday and Saturday, taking home three event wins and notching 18 personal records on the weekend. The Tigers now shift to postseason competition, beginning with the SEC Indoor Championships from Feb. 25-27.
NOTABLE FINISHES
Mizzou notched its first victory of the weekend, as senior Jayson Ashford (Fairview Heights, Ill.) took home first place in the 200m dash with a time of 21.34. Undefeated in the event this season, Ashford edged out teammate Nylo Clarke (Riverside, Mo.) for the win.
After a week off from action, senior Chris Conrad (O'Fallon, Ill.) returned and didn't skip a beat. Just shy of his PR, Conrad came from behind and won the 800m with a time of 1:48.92. He currently holds the fifth fastest men's 800m mark in the nation, qualifying him for the NCAA Championships.
Sophomore Mara Hausler (Stralsund, Germany) edged out teammates Euphenie Andre (Dover Plains, N.Y.) and Mirieli Santos (Mato Grosso, Brazil) to take home the gold in the women's triple jump with her mark of 12.73m (41-9.25).
Mizzou also notched a number of PRs throughout the weekend. Senior Jacob Brunsman (Fenton, Mo.) set a PR in the 400m, clocking in at 48.09 to take home second place in the event. Senior Sarah Chapman (Maidenhead, England) also finished second in the women's 3000m run. Her time of 9:20.95 is the sixth fastest in program history. Senior Mitch Weber (Saint Clair, Minn.) also notched a PR in the men's shot put with a mark of 17.67m (57-11.75), finishing in second place.

The Tigers will take a week off before heading down to Fayetteville, Ark. for the SEC Indoor Championships, which are set to begin on Thursday, Feb. 25 and conclude on Saturday, Feb 27.
