Mizzou Track & Field Set for SEC Indoor Championships

The Tigers will compete on Thursday, Friday and Saturday
Fayetteville, Ark. — Mizzou Track and Field is set to compete in the SEC Indoor Championships, which begin on Thursday, February 25, and conclude on Saturday, February 27 in Fayetteville, Ark. With the meet, the Tigers kick off postseason competition for the 2021 campaign before the NCAA Indoor Championships from March 12-13. The meet will be streamed live on SECN+ on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Mizzou closed out the regular season two weekends ago in the Music City Challenge, where the Tigers took home three first-place finishes and set 18 personal records. Among the winners were senior Chris Conrad (O'Fallon, Ill.) and sophomore Mara Hausler (Stralsund, Germany), both of whom will compete in the SEC Championships this weekend.
After a successful regular season, Mizzou currently has five student-athletes in contention to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships. Senior Ja'Mari Ward (Cahokia, Ill.) leads the way, as he currently ranks fifth in the nation with a mark of 7.88m (25-10.25) in the long jump.
Chris Conrad's personal best time of 1:48.45 ranks 11th in the nation in the 800m. Junior Gerogi Nachev (Yambol, Bulgaria) ranks 13th in the nation with a mark of 15.87m (52-0.75) in the triple jump.
Lastly, sophomore Euphenie Andre (Dover Plains, N.Y.) leads the women's triple jump squad, currently ranking 13th nationally with a mark of 13.18m (43-3). Junior Arianna Fisher (San Jose, Calif.) finds herself just outside of contention, currently ranked 18th in the nation with a triple jump mark of 13.11m (43-0.25).
The SEC Indoor Championships will begin at 10 a.m. CT on Thursday morning, as redshirt junior Arielle Mack (El Paso, Texas) kicks things off with the women's pentathlon. She last set a personal record and took third place with a score of 3570 points in the Music City Challenge.
Following the completion of the women's pentathlon, day one individual field events begin at 1:45 p.m. CT with the men's weight throw. Mizzou will also field a squad for the men's distance medley relay, set to begin at 2:15 p.m. CT.
On day two, the Tigers will get things started at 1:45 p.m. CT the men's long jump, as Ward looks to secure another SEC Championship. Semifinal track events will follow soon after, beginning with the men's mile run and ending with the women's 5000m.
To close out the meet, Mizzou will begin day three starting at 12:30 p.m. CT with the men's shot put. The Tiger's elite triple jump squad will also be in action. Mizzou will then close out the day with track event finals.
Following the SEC Indoor Championships, Mizzou will have a week off before preparing for the NCAA Indoor Championships from March 12-13. Mizzou will then shift its focus to the NCAA Cross Country Championships, which were postponed in the fall and are now scheduled for March 14 in Stillwater, Okla.
