The Tigers will compete in its fourth open tournament of the season
Columbia, Mo. — No. 10 Missouri wrestling will send a contingent of 15 wrestlers, six attached and nine unattached, to the UNI Open in Cedar Falls, Iowa, Saturday. The open tournament will be streamed on FloWrestling.
Starters, freshman Trey Crawford and junior Jarrett Jacques, will be amongst the group of attached wrestlers competing Saturday. The tournament will provide their first bouts outside of a dual setting this season. Joining them as attached members of the team are redshirt freshmen Mitchell Bohlken, Precious Essien, Sean Harman and freshmen Seth Nitzel.
Wrestling unattached are freshmen Jesse Cassatt, Logan Gioffre, Colton Hawks, Jeremy Jakowitsch, Steven Kolcheff, Eric Lovelace, Ellis Pfleger, Korbin Shepherd and Jonathan Wertz.
Through three open tournaments for the non-starters, Harman and Shepherd have been dominant, each claiming two weight titles. Nitzel and Lovelace also have tournament weight titles this season. Also wrestling through open tournaments, Kolcheff has wrestled to a 14-3 record, including a national co-leading eight wins by fall.
Making his season debut will be Hawks who, last summer with freshmen Rocky Elam and Keegan O'Toole, wrestled for Team USA at the UWW U20 World Championships in Ufa, Russia. He took one win in the international tournament.
