Iowa City, IA—Mizzou Tennis completed its fall season with players achieving career firsts in the ITA Central Regional Tournament. The Tigers finished the competition with 10 singles wins and one doubles win.

This year's tournament marked Emelie Schwarte and Gabriela Martinez' first appearance in the ITA Central Regionals, and just the second time for Elys Ventura and Valentina Vazquez.

Schwarte and Martinez both won their first two matches in the singles qualifiers, advancing them to the singles main draw for the first time in their careers. Ventura was also victorious in her first two matches, earning her a spot in the singles main draw as well.

In the singles main draw, Schwarte defeated Myroslava Zelenchuk, 6-7 (6), 7-6 (5), 6-3, to advance to the Round of 64, another career first. Martinez, Ventura and Vazquez all lost in the Round of 128 and moved into the singles main back draw.

Ventura went the deepest in the back draw, claiming a spot in the semifinals after taking down Madison Gallegos (5-2 [inj]), Lenka Stara (6-1, 3-6, 11-9) and Leonor Oliveira (6-4, 6-2).  Vazquez and Martinez both lost in the first round of the back draw, ending their run in the tournament.

In doubles play, Martinez/Schwarte beat Tarajova/Shikanova 6-3, and advanced to the doubles Round of 32. The duo was beaten by Detkovskaya/Miyamoto, 8-1. Vazquez/Ventura lost to Danilchenko/Lu in the Round of 64, 6-1.

The Tigers enter the offseason and will return for their first match of the spring season in January.
