Mizzou Tennis Falls to No. 20/21 Texas A&M, 4-1

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Mizzou Tennis (15-14, 1-11 SEC) dropped a Thursday evening match to No. 20/21 Texas A&M (14-5, 6-3 SEC), 4-1, in College Station, Texas. Mizzou was able to win the doubles point after wins on courts one and two.

DOUBLES

In doubles play, Mizzou was able to take the point following a pair of victories on the top-two courts. On court one, junior Bronte Murgett (Holmfirth, Great Britain) and senior Marta Oliveira (Lisbon, Portugal) earned their third ranked win of the season, as the defeated No. 43-ranked team of Tatiana Makarova and Jayci Goldsmith, 6-3, to improve to 7-5 on the season and 3-3 and ranked opponents. The doubles point was clinched on court two by senior Serena Nash (Bradford, England) and senior Gabrielle Goldin (Bradenton, Fla.), as they defeated Renee McBryde and Dorthea Faa-Hviding, 6-3.

SINGLES

In singles play, Texas A&M won on courts two, four, five and six to win the match. Murgett had a 2-0 lead in set three over No. 22-ranked Tatiana Makarova when play was stopped.

UP NEXT

Next, Mizzou will close the regular season with a road contest at No. 11/12 LSU on Saturday. The match is scheduled to start at Noon CT from Baton Rouge.
