Mizzou Soccer Slips at Notre Dame

Mizzou Soccer (5-5-2) fell by a score of 2-0 on the road at Notre Dame (6-5-0).

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Mizzou Soccer (5-5-2) fell by a score of 2-0 on the road at Notre Dame (6-5-0). The Fighting Irish outshot the Tigers 16-9 in the contest, scoring a goal in each half.

The first half was evenly competitive with each team firing at least five shots apiece. The Tigers were able to fire the first three shots of the game within the first 19 minutes. Notre Dame was not able to get a shot off until the 20th minute.

Soon afterwards, the Fighting Irish were able to gain control of the game and put pressure on the Mizzou defense. Notre Dame broke through in the 29th minute, putting the first goal in the back of the net.

TURNING POINT

In the second half, Notre Dame struck quickly with a goal in the 57th minute, putting the score at 2-0.

Mizzou was able to put pressure on the Notre Dame defense a handful of times in the second half, but nothing came to fruition.

TOP TIGERS

Momola Adesanmi was strong on the defensive end for the Tigers, turning aside a number of Notre Dame attacks. She played all 90 minutes for the first time this season.

Grace Pettet has played every minute of the spring on the back line.

NOTES

Mizzou was shut out for just the second time in the 2020-21 season. The Tigers did not fire double-digit shots for the third time this season.

Mizzou and Notre Dame will face off once more in the spring, this time in Columbia on April 2.
