COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Softball defeated Kansas City 11-0 in its final tune-up before Southeastern Conference play begins, Wednesday at Mizzou Softball Stadium.
The Tigers (16-6) offense was potent against the Roos (5-9) with seven runs coming off of homers from three different players – junior Brooke Wilmes, sophomore Emma Raabe and redshirt junior Cayla Kessinger.
Wilmes tied her career-high for RBI in a game with five.
Turning Point
Going into the bottom of the third with a 3-0 lead, the Tigers put up an eight-spot to put the game away. With two runners on, sophomore Emma Raabe hit a three-run shot to left field.
Junior Brooke Wilmes came up to the plate with two runners on, driving them both in with a double.
With two more runners on, redshirt junior Cayla Kessinger hit a three-run home run to center field, increasing the Tiger's lead to 11-0.

- Brooke Wilmes went 3-3 at the plate with a home run, two doubles and 5 RBI.
- Emma Raabe hit a three0run homer, going 1-2 on the night.
- Cayla Kessinger went 2-3 at the plate with a three0run home run.
- Megan Schumacher pitched a five-inning shutout with five strikeouts.
Notes
- Brooke Wilmes' home run in the first inning marked the Tigers' first leadoff home run since she did so against Tennessee last season (April 1).
- Wilmes tied her career high for RBI in a game with five.
- Wilmes' five RBI marked the first time a Tiger has had 5+ RBI since Hatti Moore on May 17, 2019 against Cal State Fullerton.
- Wilmes is the first Mizzou player to have two doubles in a game since Callie Martin last season against Iowa (Feb. 16).
- Cayla Kessinger extended her hitting streak to 11 games with a single in the first.
- Kessinger is the first Mizzou player to hit a home run in three-straight games since Jazmyn Rollin did so against Georgia, Bradley and Kentucky last season (March 16-22).
- Mizzou improved to 52-1 all-time against Kansas City.
- The Tigers have shutout three opponents this season.
Up Next
The Tigers will start SEC play this weekend as they host Ole Miss on Friday (6 p.m.), Saturday (4 p.m.) and Sunday (4 p.m.).
