Mizzou Tennis Sweeps SEMO in Doubleheader

Mizzou improves to 8-2 on the season
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Tennis improved to 8-2 on the season after two 4-0 sweeps of Southeast Missouri State on Monday, Feb. 17 at the Mizzou Tennis Complex. Junior Marta Oliveira (Lisbon, Portugal) led the way for Mizzou, recording two wins in both the singles and doubles competition.
MATCH 1
In the first match against Southeast Missouri State, Mizzou began by taking the doubles point after wins at the second and third positions. At the No. 2 spot, junior Ellie Wright (Gainesville, Fla.) and sophomore Vivien Ábrahám (Budapest, Hungary) defeated Vivian Lai and Manuela Barriga, 6-2. At the No. 3 spot, Oliveira and sophomore Lisa Fukutoku (Tokyo, Japan) won, 6-0, over Maja Lundell and Grace Powderly.
In singles play, Mizzou clinched the match after victories at the No. 1, No. 2 and No. 4 positions. In the No. 4 spot, Oliviera beat Manuela Barriga in straight sets, winning 6-1, 7-5. Soon after, Wright won 6-3, 6-2 over Romana Tarajova, while senior Serena Nash (Bradford, England) clinched the win for the Tigers with a 2-6, 6-1, 6-2 victory over Kseniya Zonova.
MATCH 2
Mizzou continued its winning ways in the second match, securing the doubles point. All three doubles teams secured a win in the match. The team of Nash and senior Gabrielle Goldin (Bradenton, Fla.) defeated Kseniya, Zonova and Romana Tarajova, 7-5, on court No. 1, while freshman Elys Ventura (Auckland, New Zealand) and Wright defeated Manuela Barriga and Vivian Lai on court No. 2. On court No. 3, Oliveira and Fukutoku beat Grace Powderly and Maja Lundell.
In singles play, Southeast Missouri State withdrew from courts No. 5 and 6, automatically giving Mizzou a 3-0 lead. Mizzou clinched the victory on court No. 3 with Oliveira defeating Maja Lundell 6-2, 6-0.

Next, Mizzou will travel to Minneapolis, Minn., to face Memphis on Saturday, Feb. 22 and Minnesota on Sunday, Feb. 23.
