"I'm very proud of this group of young men and Clay, our amazing academic advisor, but I'm also honestly not surprised," exclaimed Mizzou Wrestling head coach Brian Smith. "They've handled this trying time because of the choices they made and believing in our culture. Tiger Style is a lifestyle everyone in our program chooses to live. We choose it not because it's easy but because it's difficult. We want to set goals and expectations that will challenge us and bring out the best person and athlete we can become. That's what we believe, that's how we compete each day and that's why giving one more is so important to everyone in our program. It's why we succeed on the mat and in the classroom. It's why we have young men in medical school, law school, working on MBA's and many other top-flight degree programs. By living it we expect it."
"All of the credit goes to our student-athletes for the work they put in despite so many obstacles," said Mizzou Made director of academics, Olympic sports Clay Rogers. "Our staff put in long hours to ensure each student-athlete was supported through all of this, and the results speak for themselves. This team is special. Their success is a testament to the Tiger Style culture Coach Smith has established at Mizzou Wrestling and to the work ethic of our student-athletes, coaches and staff."
