COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Soccer will look to pick up points in a third consecutive game as the Tigers welcome Kentucky to Walton Soccer Stadium for Family Weekend on Sunday, Nov. 1, at noon CT.
The match will stream on SEC Network, with Jon Yardley and Lori Lindsey handling play-by-play and analyst duties, respectively.
Last Time Out
- For the second consecutive week, Mizzou battled through 110 minutes of double-overtime action to grab a 1-1 draw at Mississippi State.
- Macy Trujillo headed in a goal from a perfectly placed cross from Blythe Beldner into the box, putting Mizzou up 1-0 in the 38th minute.
- Mississippi State equalized in the 57th minute, and after two overtime periods and back-and-forth battle, the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
- Following the result, Mizzou remains unbeaten in their last five matches that have gone to overtime.
- Mizzou led the Bulldogs with 13 shots to 11 and six corner kicks to four.
Scouting Report
- While Kentucky currently sits winless on the season at 0-3-3, the Wildcats are coming off a draw with No. 14 Auburn.
- Sophomore forward Jordyn Rhodes not only leads her team with four goals and 18 shots—with 50% of those landing on target, she also sits at third place in the conference in goals and fourth in shots.
- On the other end of the pitch, redshirt senior goalkeeper Brooke Littman leads the conference in saves with 37 and saves per game at 6.17.
- Although the Tigers dropped their last game to the Wildcats in Lexington a year ago, Mizzou has won eight of the last nine matchups against Kentucky and leads the all-time series at 8-2-1.
- As the Wildcats look to grab their first win of the season, they will face a tough task in Columbia as Kentucky has not won a match at Walton Soccer Stadium since 2004.
Blitz-ing Towards Another Milestone
- Mizzou head coach Bryan Blitz, the lone head coach in program history, is one-win shy of 250 wins in his career roaming the sidelines in Mid-Missouri.
- The 2015 SEC Coach of the Year, Blitz owns a record of 249-213-38 at Mizzou.
- Florida's Becky Burleigh, Texas A&M's G Guerrieri and South Carolina's Shelley Smith are the only coaches in the league to win 250 games at their current institution.
- Auburn's Karen Hoppa is approaching the milestone with 245 wins with her Tigers.
- Blitz is also fifth amongst his SEC colleagues in career wins with 294, trailing Smith (300), Hoppa (310), Guerrueri (476) and Burleigh (508).
Tigers Riding a Streak
- Mizzou is currently on a two-match unbeaten streak — battling to two 1-1 draws to pick up two points in the SEC race.
- The Tigers first held LSU to a draw at home, on Oct. 16, and were able to walk out of Starkville, Miss., with a 1-1 draw this past weekend.
- It's the first time Mizzou has been unbeaten in consecutive conference matches since totaling four points against Kentucky (W, 1-0; 9/13/18) and Georgia (T, 0-0; 9/20/18) to open the 2018 season.
- Were the Tigers to win or draw with Kentucky on Sunday, it'd be the first three-match unbeaten streak in SEC play since the 2016 season. Entering the final stages of the season, en route to a NCAA Tournament appearance, Mizzou went 2-0-1:
- T at Texas A&M, 1-1 (10/6/16)
- W vs. Alabama, 2-0 (10/9/16)
- W vs. Vanderbilt, 2-1 (10/14/16)
SEC Race Tightens
- Entering the final two weeks of the season, Mizzou has a chance to separate itself in the SEC standings.
- The Tigers are currently fifth in the seven-team SEC East, with three points in division play, five overall.
- Mizzou still has matches against the teams occupying the last two spots in the SEC East standings: Kentucky (2) and Florida (1).
- Mizzou will also face Georgia, who is third in the East with eight points.
