COLUMBIA, Mo. – For the second consecutive year, Mizzou swimming and diving's Daniel Hein (Sycamore, Ill.) was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America® Men's Division I At-Large First Team, the organization announced on Friday.

Hein stands as only the fifth Mizzou student-athlete to earn multiple Academic All-America® first team honors since the Academic All-America® program was established in 1952. Mizzou's other repeat first team recipients include baseball's John Hay (1992 and 1993), track and field's Ann Marie Brooks (2001 and 2002) and Serena Ramsey (2005 and 2006) and softball's Jenna Marston (2012, 2013).

A three-time NCAA Championships individual qualifier, Hein claimed five All-America honors in his Tiger career. During his shortened senior campaign, he claimed All-Southeastern Conference second team accolades after three top three placements at the 2020 SEC Championships. He also took home All-America honors as a 2020 NCAA Championships qualifier, earning bids in the 100 fly and 100 back.

As a junior in 2018-19, Hein earned All-SEC first team honors after swimming on Mizzou's SEC champion 400 medley relay, which was the first men's relay in program history to win a conference title. He is Mizzou's 100 back record holder (45.26) and ranks third all-time in the 100 fly (45.86) and fourth in the 200 back (1:41.08).
