Former Tiger Demetrious Johnson Holds Event to Assist St. Louisians in Need

Johnson was a standout defensive back for the Tigers from 1979-82

Former University of Missouri standout defensive back and longtime community leader Demetrious Johnson recently held an important event in his native St. Louis to help families in need during the COVID-19 pandemic.  His foundation, the Demetrious Johnson Charitable Foundation, partnered with Just 1 Taste Catering, and Mizzou Head Football Coach Eliah Drinkwitz to provide hot meals to over 300 families on Friday.

Johnson was a standout defensive back for the Tigers from 1979-82, and was part of a Tiger secondary that led the nation in pass defense his senior season when Mizzou allowed a nation-best 123.50 yards per game in the air.  Johnson, who won first-team All-Big Eight honors in that 1982 season, went on to become a fifth-round selection in the 1983 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions.  He played in 65 career games over four years with the Lions and one season with the Miami Dolphins.
