COLUMBIA, Mo. – For the second time in as many weeks, Mizzou Wrestling sophomore 149-pounder Brock Mauller (Columbia, Mo./Father Tolton High School) is the Mid-American Conference West Division Wrestler of the Week, announced Wednesday (Feb. 5) by the league office. Mauller went 1-0 last weekend and defeated Boo Lewallen of Oklahoma State, who was the nation's No. 1-ranked wrestler at 149 pounds.

Mizzou has now claimed the MAC West Wrestler of the Week award for three straight weeks as sophomore 157-pounder Jarrett Jacques (Columbia, Mo./Father Tolton High School) took home the distinction before Mauller winning it in each of the last two weeks.

Mauller's win over No. Lewallen was Mizzou's first over a No. 1-ranked wrestler since Daniel Lewis pinned Arizona State's Zahid Valencia at 174 pounds last year at Arizona State (Feb. 8, 2019).  Mauller went into the third period trailing, 3-0, but registered an escape early in the period before getting a takedown to tie the bout with about 30 seconds remaining and rode Lewallen out to force OT. Mauller took a shot and scored the bout-winning takedown midway through the sudden victory period to earn the 5-3 win.  He is now 21-1 and should shoot up the rankings this week at 149 pounds after winning his last nine bouts.  He has yet to lose this calendar year.

Mauller is 21-1 on the season, joining Jacques as the only two Tiger starters over 20 wins. He has 20+ wins in back-to-back seasons as well.
