Rivera becomes Mizzou’s first female Drake Relays javelin champion
DES MOINES, Iowa – Mizzou Track & Field continued with competition at the Drake Relays, as redshirt sophomore Sophia Rivera (Brentwood, Mo.) captured a coveted white flag following a first place finish in the javelin. The first-place finish was one of three top-five finishes in field events on the day for Mizzou, while two sprinters qualified for a final heat on Saturday.
NOTABLE FINISHES
Rivera finished first in the javelin after posting a mark of 54.81m (179-10), as she finished a full five meters ahead of the runner-up, NDSU's Kari Wolfe who posted a mark of 49.39m (162-10). Rivera is the 16th female in Mizzou history to win a white flag at the Drake Relays, and the first to do so in the javelin.
