STORYLINES
- Mizzou is set to host Texas A&M this weekend in a rare Thursday-Friday-Saturday series.
- Mizzou trails the Aggies in the all-time series 31-40.
- The Tigers fell in the last series between the two teams, losing two out of three back in 2017 in College Station.
- Mizzou lost two of three in its most recent series at Ole Miss.
- The Tigers lost two heart-breakers during a day one doubleheader, but bounced back with a 5-2 win on Sunday.
AN ELI-TE CLOSER
- Junior P Eli Daniel has become Coach Anderson's go-to closer since SEC play began.
- Daniel now has five saves this season, the most ever by a Tiger pitcher in a single season. Daniel is one of just 10 pitchers in the nation with five or more saves this season.
- Daniel earned her first saves this season in back-to-back fashion, helping Mizzou hold off Kentucky (3/24) and then preserving a one-run lead in the bottom of the seventh against Tennessee (3/31).
- Daniel has been just as effective in relief during midweek games, as she collected a save in game one against Wichita State and another in game two against Illinois.
- Her most recent save came against Ole Miss in Mizzou's lone win of the series, as she went 1.2 hitless innings against the Rebels to preserve a three-run lead.
GASPER THE GAMER
- Sophomore Cassie Gasper has proven to be the ultimate gamer this season, as the D-II transfer now has five wins over top-25 teams this season.
- Gasper's five ranked wins this season are the most by a Mizzou pitcher since Cheyenne Baxter posted seven in the regular season back in 2017.
- Her five ranked wins are the most by a Mizzou newcomer since Paige Lowary tallied five of her own back in 2015.
- In those wins, Gasper has been simply fantastic, going 24.1 innings while only allowing 7 runs.
- Her ERA in those games is 2.01, while she is only allowing hitters to hit a measly .191 against her.
WERT ALERT
- Sophomore 3B Kim Wert added two more homers to her season tally during the Mizzou Tournament, and she now has 15 on the year. The program record of 20 was set by Amanda Renth back in 2008.
- Wert is one of just 20 players in the country with 15 or more long balls so far this season. She is one of eight SEC players on that list.
- Wert is the first Tiger with 15+ homers in a season since Chloe Rathburn had 15 and Emily Crane had 17 back in 2016.
- Her second homer of the weekend, a grand slam vs. Oregon, was the first grand slam for Mizzou since opening weekend, when Geana Torres smashed one against ASU (Feb. 8).
- Wert became just the second Tiger this season with multiple homers with her two-homer game against Wichita State. Freshman DP Geana Torres also had two against Troy (2/15/19).
SCOUTING TEXAS A&M
- Texas A&M currently owns a 25-18 record, while posting a 3-12 record in SEC play.
- The Aggies possess a slight advantage in the all-time series, as Mizzou trails A&M 31-40.
- Texas A&M only has one road win this season, but it came at the then-undefeated Alabama.
- Freshman INF Baylee Klinger leads the Aggie attack, sporting a very solid .323 average. Klinger also has three home runs and 43 hits to her credit so far this season.
- Junior P/1B Payton McBride has been just as effective, posting a .364 average so far this season. She also has a team-leading 27 RBI this year.
- Junior P Kendall Potts leads the Aggie bullpen, as she currently owns a 3.35 ERA through her team-high 104.1 innings pitched.
