Storylines

  • Mizzou and Ole Miss square off for the second time this season. Mizzou is looking for its first win over the Rebels at home since a 98-79 victory on Feb. 9, 2013, as the Rebels have won four in a row in Columbia.
  • Mizzou is coming off back-to-back wins in league play for the first time since ripping off five straight victories from Jan. 31-Feb. 13, 2018. The wins over Georgia and South Carolina marked the first time Mizzou beat two consecutive league opponents by 15+ points since Feb. 13, 2013.
  • Mizzou limited Georgia to just 39 points on Wednesday, the Bulldogs' fewest points scored in a home game since managing just 36 vs. Georgia Tech on Dec. 28, 1945. It was also the fewest points scored by a Mizzou opponent in SEC play since Mississippi State scored just 36 points on Feb. 13, 2013.
  • The last time Ole Miss and Mizzou met, the Tigers outrebounded the Rebels, 37-21. Since then, Mizzou owns a +68 margin on the glass and owns a +11.3 advantage per game during the six-game stretch. Mizzou piled up a season-high 50 rebounds at Georgia, the most ever by the Tigers in an SEC game.
  • Mizzou has now outrebounded its opponent 22 times in 29 games this season, including seven consecutive opponents. The Tigers rank 28th in the nation and second in the SEC behind only Kentucky in rebounding defense, limiting opponents to 31.6 boards per game.
  • Since Nov. 18, senior point guard Jordan Geist has reached double figures 22 times in the last 26 games and in 11 of the last 12 games after leading Mizzou with 18 points and six assists at Georgia. Geist has scored 15+ points 13 times this season after notching 15+ just six times in his previous two seasons combined. He piled up 23 points against Ole Miss on Feb. 16 on a season-high nine made field goals. Since that game, he is shooting 63 percent from inside the 3-point arc.
  • Mizzou has held opponents under 70 points 38 times in the Martin era, which amounts to 61.3 percent of the games with him at the helm. When the Tigers have done so this season, they are 13-4.

Torrid Torrence

  • Freshman Torrence Watson is averaging 16.3 points per game and shooting 46.5 percent from beyond the arc over the last three games.
  • Watson exploded for a career-high 20 points on a career-best seven made field goals vs. South Carolina, then followed with 17 points and a career-high five 3-pointers at Georgia. Watson became just the fourth Mizzou freshman to make five 3-pointers in a game since 2015 and the first since Jontay Porter at South Carolina last season.
  • He is averaging 9.9 points per game over the last 11 games, draining at least one triple in all 11 contests. In that span, he's scored 109 points and made 26 treys after notching just 79 points (4.6 PPG) and 18 treys in Mizzou's first 18 games.

Edge on the Glass

  • Mizzou owned a +22 margin on the glass at Georgia, its largest margin in league play since +23 against Arkansas on March 5, 2013. The 50 boards on Wednesday were the Tigers' most in a league game since pulling down 55 on Jan. 11, 2011 vs. Iowa State. It marked Mizzou's sixth 50+ board performance as a team since 2010.
  • Mizzou has averaged 12.7 offensive rebounds per game over the last 11 outings, grabbing at least 10 in six of the last seven games.
  • Mizzou outrebounded No. 4 Kentucky 34-28, marking just the second time the Wildcats were outrebounded during league play.
  • Mizzou has a +68 margin on the glass over its last six games. Mizzou has outrebounded its opponent in 12 of the last 14 contests.
  • Mizzou has snagged 10+ offensive boards 18 times this season, including 16 at Georgia. The Tigers have grabbed at least nine in 11 consecutive games.
  • Mitchell Smith grabbed a career-high 11 boards in 17 minutes on Wednesday, Mizzou's most efficient rebounding performance since Torren Jones snagged 11 boards in 13 minutes on Jan. 11, 2014.

A Geisty Senior Season

  • Senior guard Jordan Geist reached double figures for the 22nd time in the past 26 games on Wednesday, totaling 18 points in 38 minutes at Georgia. Over the last 12 outings, Geist is averaging 14.8 points, 5.9 rebounds and 3.2 assists.
  • Geist ranks 13th in the league in scoring (14.1 PPG). He is one of three players in the SEC ranking among the league's top 13 in scoring and top 11 in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.5).
  • Geist has scored 20+ points six times this season. Since the Tigers joined the SEC, he is one of four Mizzou players to do so, alongside Kassius Robertson, Jordan Clarkson and Jabari Brown.
  • Geist has scored 408 total points in 29 games this season, surpassing his 2017-18 total (242 points). The only Mizzou players with 408 points or more in a season since 2015: Geist, Kassius Robertson and Jordan Barnett.
  • Geist has committed just 48 turnovers in his last 797 minutes played (one per every 16.6 minutes).
  • Geist has reached double figures in 75.9 percent of games in 2018-19 after doing so in just 30.3 percent of games last season.
