Rivera and Stauffer both join Mizzou’s all-time top-10 list
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Track & Field was in action at three meets on Friday, as the Tigers had athletes competing at the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas, the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif., and the Mike Fanelli Track Classic in San Francisco, Calif. Mizzou had two program top-10 marks set on the day, including a school record performance in the javelin from redshirt sophomore Sophia Rivera (Brentwood, Mo.).
NOTABLE FINISHES
Making her javelin debut in the Black & Gold, Rivera shattered the previous javelin school record, as she posted a mark of 53.45m (175-4), surpassing the previous school record mark of 51.17m (167-10.5), which was set by Hailey Twietmeyer in 2014. Rivera finished second in the event, as she only trailed Chase Wolinski's (Nebraska) mark of 53.96m (177-0). She is the third Tiger to surpass 50 meters in the javelin, and the second in as many days after freshman Ava Curry (Liberty, Mo.) posted a mark of 50.74m (166-6) on Thursday.
In the shot put, redshirt sophomore Emily Stauffer (Reinholds, Penn.) joined Mizzou's top-10 list in the shot put, as she finished second with a mark of 15.74m (51-7.75), while redshirt senior Will Fife (Jefferson City, Mo.) posted an event win with a mark of 18.52m (60-9.25).
In California, freshman Martin Prodanov (Plovdiv, Bulgaria) posted a third-place finish in section 3 of the 1500m run at the Stanford Invitational, as he passed the finish line at 3:45.91, while freshman Reilly Revord (Hinsdale, Ill.) finished sixth in the 1500m run at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic, as she clocked a time of 4:31.16.

Mizzou will wrap up the weekend with seven athletes in six events Saturday at the Texas Relays. Among the notable entries include redshirt sophomore Ja'Mari Ward (Cahokia, Ill.) in the long jump and freshman Roberto Vilches (Mexico City, Mexico) in the high jump, as well as redshirt senior Gabi Jacobs (Bloomington, Ill.) in the discus.
