#ShowMe Mizzou Game Notes
Series History vs. Ole Miss
- Mizzou trails in the all-time series against Ole Miss, 10-8.
- The two teams last met two years ago for a three-game series in Oxford (April 21-23, 2017). The Tigers took the series opener, 9-3, but fell in Saturday and Sunday contests to drop the series.
- This weekend will be Mizzou and Ole Miss' first meeting in Taylor Stadium since 2015. The Tigers took two of three against the Rebels four years ago.
- Mizzou and Ole Miss have also met in postseason play, as the two teams squared off in Coral Gables, Florida, at the 2008 NCAA Regional. The Tigers defeated the Rebels, 7-0, to open their postseason play, but fell 9-6 in the rematch to conclude their campaign.
Tigers Excelling at Taylor Stadium
- Following a two-game series sweep over Murray State (March 19-20), Mizzou improved to 8-0 this season at Taylor Stadium.
- It's no secret that the Tigers have enjoyed playing in Mid-Missouri thus far in 2019, particularly its group of hitters. In eight games played at home, Mizzou's offense is hitting .332 with 86 runs scored (10.75 runs per game), with 13 doubles, one triple, 13 home runs and 20 stolen bases.
- Individually at home, freshman OF Josh Holt Jr. (.500), junior SS Chris Cornelius (.478), sophomore 2B Mark Vierling (.476) and sophomore C Chad McDaniel (.423) have all eclipsed outstanding .400-plus batting averages.
- Pitching wise, several of the Tiger bullpen arms have recorded spotless appearances. Senior RHP Jordan Gubelman (5.1 IP), sophomore RHP Konnor Ash (5.1 IP), sophomore RHP Ian Bedell (4.0 IP), junior RHP Lukas Veinbergs (3.0 IP) and senior RHP Cameron Dulle (2.2 IP) all have 0.00 home ERAs heading into this weekend vs. Ole Miss (March 22-24).
Zimmermann Locked-in at the Dish
- Junior UTIL Peter Zimmermann has simply been ripping the cover off the ball lately, highlighted by a home run in three straight games.
- In the Tigers' series at No. 10 Arkansas (March 15-17), Coach Bieser gave Zimmermann three consecutive starts in the lineup. Prior to those appearances, the St. Louis, Missouri, native had only appeared four times in the team's previous 16 games played.
- Zimmermann has surely rewarded Bieser's decision over his past four games played, hitting .357 (5-for-14) with five runs scored, two doubles, three home runs and five RBI.
- The powerful righty has also reached base at a .438 clip with an eye-popping 1.143 slugging percentage (1.581 OPS) over that stretch.
