Mizzou finishes doubles action with an impressive 7-2 mark over three-day invitational
MIAMI, Fla. – Mizzou Tennis concluded competition at the FIU Invitational in Miami, Fla., on Sunday, as the Tigers recorded four wins, two each in singles and doubles competition.
DOUBLES
Mizzou concluded an impressive weekend of doubles action with two more wins, as Mizzou finished the Invitational with a 7-2 mark overall. The duo of senior Serena Nash (Bradford, England) and senior Gabrielle Goldin (Bradenton, Fla.) won for the third time, as they closed the weekend with a perfect 3-0 mark after defeating South Florida's Laura Pellicer Perello and Grace Eland, 7-5.
Junior Ellie Wright (Gainesville, Fla.) and sophomore Lisa Fukutoku recorded Mizzou's second win of the day, as they beat South Florida's Evelyn Tiron and Janvi Clark, 6-2.
SINGLES
In singles competition, sophomore Vivien Abraham (Budapest, Hungary) and Fukutoku recorded wins on the day. Abraham beat Iowa's Danielle Burich, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3, while Fukutoku beat Iowa's Ashleigh Jacobs, 6-4, 6-4.
